Jim's Pledges - What are my commitments

Key Pledges

We will Ballot members on any pay arrangements each year

Your voice matters. That's why I firmly believe that when it comes to crucial decisions like accepting or rejecting negotiated pay settlements, the power should ultimately rest in your hands.

As the recognised union, it's our responsibility to ensure that you, our members, are fully informed and empowered to make decisions that directly impact your working lives. That's why we're committed to giving you the final say on any pay settlement that we negotiate on your behalf.

This isn't just about ticking a box; it's about upholding the principles of democracy and accountability within our union. Your voice at work isn't just a slogan; it's a fundamental commitment to ensuring that your needs and concerns are at the forefront of everything we do.

By putting the decision-making power in your hands, we're reaffirming our dedication to being a truly member-led union. Your input, your feedback, and your decisions shape the direction of our union, and we're here to support you every step of the way.

Together, let's continue to champion the principles of democracy and transparency within Advance Union, ensuring that your voice remains the driving force behind everything we do.

Investing in our representatives

Our representatives are the unsung heroes of our union, tirelessly working to support and advocate for our members each and every day. Their dedication and professionalism are the bedrock of our organization, and it's essential that we invest in their growth and development.

By providing our reps with the necessary training and support, we empower them to deliver exceptional individual support to our members while also advocating on key issues that matter most to you. Whether it's negotiating better terms and conditions or navigating complex workplace situations, our reps will be equipped with the skills and confidence needed to tackle any challenge head-on.

But it's not just about individual growth; it's also about fostering a clear understanding of our members' expectations and needs. Through ongoing communication and feedback, we'll ensure that our reps are always aligned with your priorities and aspirations.

Opportunities for development will abound, allowing our reps to expand their skill sets and take on more complex roles and responsibilities. As they continue to grow, so too will their ability to serve you, our members, with excellence and professionalism.

Together, let's reaffirm our commitment to supporting and empowering our representatives, because when they succeed, we all succeed.

Improve two way Communications

Communication lies at the heart of our union, and investing in dedicated resources to improve it is a testament to our commitment to serving you better. That's why I'm excited to announce our plan to bring on board a dedicated communication officer who will play a pivotal role in enhancing our communication channels and strategies.

With a dedicated communication officer in place, you can expect more regular updates, timely information, and better use of technology to keep you informed and engaged. From email newsletters to social media platforms, we'll leverage a range of tools to ensure that you're always in the loop about important union matters.

But communication is a two-way street, and we're committed to not only sharing information but also listening to your feedback and insights. Through regular check-ins, webinars, and surveys, we'll create opportunities for meaningful dialogue and gather valuable insights into what matters most to you.

Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that your voice is heard and that your needs are met. With a dedicated communication officer at the helm, we'll be better equipped to serve you and strengthen our union for the future.

Together, let's embrace this exciting opportunity to improve communication and build a stronger, more connected Advance Union.

Improving on an inclusive Union

.

Inclusivity isn't just a buzzword; it's a core value that should guide everything we do as a union. While we've made strides in supporting an inclusive culture, it's clear that there's more work to be done, especially when it comes to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

I wholeheartedly believe that DEI should be embedded in the very fabric of our union, reflected in our values, principles, and actions. It's not enough to pay lip service to inclusivity; we must actively work to ensure that every member feels valued, respected, and supported.

This means taking a proactive approach to addressing inequalities and injustices, both within our union and in the broader workplace. We must advocate for policies and practices that promote equality and fairness for all members, regardless of their background or identity.

While this journey towards greater inclusivity may take time, rest assured that under my leadership, DEI will remain at the forefront of our agenda. I'm committed to listening to your voices and working collaboratively to bring about meaningful change.

I'm eager to engage with each and every one of you to understand how we can collectively bring DEI to life within our union. Together, let's make DEI not just a pledge but an integral part of Advance's future DNA.
